Shaken, Not Stirred

I just got home from the music festival and am beyond wiped out. It's the top of the 6th and Tom Terrific is closing in on 300. I am closing in on sleep. I may have to go to bed before I can witness the magic.

And while I am thrilled for Tommy G and I am soo happy he is a Met today, I just remember that he once was one of the banes of our existence. Bygones. He stayed with us, so he is now one of us. Trying to be loyal, despite what politics has tried to do to me.

But quickly... the Jose/Luis cocktail is a lethal one if mixed just right. And tonight, a double base steal is shaken, not stirred. Just like I like it.

Oh, Jill. Great to hear you are living it up at the music festivals, but falling asleep and missing history?! I have to question your commitment to witnessing Mets (and baseball) history.

What a guy. Tommy is the epitome of a classy (and crafty) lefty. It's amazing he while he only hits 88 on the radar, guys look like he throws 95. For the last 20+ years he has been incredible. And while his career in Atlanta was far superior to his days in in a Mets uniform, it seems somehow fitting for him to get number 300 as a Metropolitan.

We had two of the greatest pitchers of their generations, Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan. Both were destined for greatness and enshrined in Cooperstown. Both were traded. Ryan after 29 wins with the club, Seaver with 198. Let it be known that my father said that Seaver was crying when he was traded. Also let it be known, that Seaver and Ryan combined on 8 no-hitters...and the Mets have yet to get one. (you can also add Cone, Gooden, Leiter, et al to that list).

So while the Mets may have let some of the best pitchers in history get away, it was nice that the "bane of our existence" for over a dozen years was on our side.

On a different note, which bands performed at this festival? They better have been worth it, otherwise I will not excuse your missing one of the best moments in Mets history.

MEC, it's ok. I saw Tom Terrific leave the mound and made it to the 8th inning.

The poor Mets... we have suffered some bad decisions. But right now we have a great team, some top notch players and even some old guys who still got their groove, Viagra or not.

Check out the Virgin Music Website... my faves were LCD Soundsystem, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Regina Spektor.
